AIRTEA is transforming agriculture in Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda by bridging gaps in agricultural knowledge and innovation. The project focuses on empowering women and youth through enhanced entrepreneurial skills and access to inclusive platforms. By establishing multi-stakeholder innovation platforms and Agricultural Business Learning Alliances, AIRTEA connects farmers, researchers, policymakers, and agribusinesses to co-create and adopt sustainable solutions. It fosters the development and dissemination of practical technologies, improves market access, and drives job creation and profitability along key agricultural value chains. Leveraging collaboration and digital tools, AIRTEA is building resilient rural economies and advancing food systems in the region.
AIRTEA has established and strengthened 56 innovation platforms across Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, enhancing agricultural production, processing, and market access for women and youth. The project trained over 800 farmers, developed digital tools, and fostered market linkages for cassava, potatoes, and indigenous vegetables. By promoting value-added products and supporting agribusiness mentorship, AIRTEA has improved profitability, employment, and knowledge-sharing in agricultural value chains.
