On March 23, 2024, the Renewable Energies Fab Lab at the École Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique de Yaoundé Cameroun trained some 50 young people in additive manufacturing (prototyping) using 3D printers. Students from the school were joined by those from the Institut Universitaire des Sciences, des Technologies et de l’Éthique de Yaoundé and the National High Polytechnic Institut (École polytechnique de Bamenda).
During the training session, the students, 23% of whom were young women, learned how to use Creality-Slicer software to prepare printing files for FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printers, as well as how to manufacture and assemble parts using 3D printers. The case study focused on the realization of a rack-and-pinion system.
