On 26 and 27 April 2024, the Renewable Energy Fab Lab, third-party project of PDTIE, and lead by ‘École Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique de Yaoundé – Cameroun (ENSPY)’, trained third- and fourth-year students at the ‘École de Géologie et d’Exploitation minière (EGEM)’ in Meiganga, Ngaoundéré, in additive manufacturing using a 3D printer.
Around sixty students, 30% of them young women, took part in this training course, the overall aim of which was to build the capacity of these young people to prototype their project ideas using additive manufacturing with 3D printers.
The work involved modelling the project idea in 3D using computer-aided design (CAD) software, then using Creality-Slicer to prepare the files for printing the resulting part, and finally manufacturing the part using the 3D printer.
