VaRRIWA closure

The VaRRIWA project was officially concluded this Monday, January 27, 2025, during a ceremony held in Dakar, Senegal.

The event was held in the presence of Professor Slim KHALBOUS, Rector of the ‘Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF)’, Dr. El Hadji Abdourahmane DIOUF, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Senegal, Mr. Jean-Marc Pisani, Ambassador of the European Union to Senegal, and Ms. Fatou Sagna Sow, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Industry and Commerce.

Launched in June 2021, VaRRIWA concludes four years of significant impact on the valorisation of research results in West Africa.

Minister Dr. El Hadji Abdourahmane DIOUF highlighted the originality of the VaRRIWA project, which goes beyond traditional research and explores new approaches focused on valorization and concrete impact. He also emphasized that the results obtained demonstrate the relevance and ambition of this innovative approach.

✅ 14 projects funded in 4 countries

✅ incubators created

✅ +2090 actors trained in research valorisation

✅ 56 patents registered with OAPI

✅ More than 90 innovative companies launched

✅ Hundreds of jobs generated
