Innovation Fund

The innovation on the transformation of cocoa pods is the winner of the 2024 Proto Fund in Cameroon.

On October 18, 2024, the presentation ceremony for the winners of the 2024 edition of the Proto Fund of the agency for the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises in Cameroon was held. The Proto Fund is a program aimed at supporting high-impact development initiatives by supporting the development or improvement of prototypes. The selection of the laureates is made after a national call, then an initial evaluation by a sub-jury for the pre-selection, and finally by a grand jury for the selection of the laureates.

At the end of this rigorous selection process, the innovation on the transformation of cocoa pods into biomaterial applicable to stationery, packaging, and baby diapers received a support check worth two million CFA francs.

This innovation, incubated at the “École nationale supérieure polytechnique”  in Douala, is driven by the artisan Selamo Milice Jumla, with the scientific support of engineer Foko Noumsi Roland.

As a reminder, the “École nationale supérieure polytechnique “of Douala (ENSPD) is one of the 15 beneficiary organizations of the PDTIE implemented with the ACP Innovation Fund with the financial contribution of the European Union. ENSP implement the thir-party projet called ‘Développement et modernisation des procédés de transformation, de conservation et de conditionnement agroalimentaires par des solutions durables endogènes et innovantes‘.
