‘Fablab Énergies renouvelables’ wins award at the 7th ‘salon du bois et du mobilier’ made in Cameroon

The Fablab Énergies renouvelables , PDTIE third party project, led by École Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique de Yaoundé (ENSPY) took an active part in the 7th Salon du Bois et du mobilier Made in Cameroon, held at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé from June 22 to July 02, 2024.
On July 1, 2024, the Fablab EnR hosted a two-hour conference on the theme of “Manufacturing pico-turbines from wood species for rural electrification”. The aim was to show the audience how to produce clean electrical energy using pico-turbines made from certain types of Cameroonian wood.

In addition, the Fablab EnR took part in the exhibition and competition with a machine called “Computer Numerical Control” (CNC), which was used to program the engraving of patterns on wood and furniture. The very first prototype of a crossflow pico-turbine with a wooden rotor was exhibited. This prototype pico-turbine has features such as a diameter of 330 mm; the wood species Padouk, rotor width of 136 mm, number of rotor blades equal to 24, electrical power of 3.5 Kw for an efficiency of 75%. By adding the shell to this rotor, it can be used on a waterfall with a height of 10 meters and a flow rate of 10 l/s.

Congratulations to Fablab Énergies renouvelables on winning the cooperation prize at the end of the 7th salon du bois et du mobilier made in Cameroon !
