Bula Reef: Actively working to save heat-adapted corals from severe marine heat waves

Bula Reef is a rescue nursery planted with over 1,300 heat-adapted corals taken from shallow reef flat areas of heat stress and planted to cooler waters where their future is now more secure.

Corals for Conservation (C4C), a partner organisation in the third-party project CTTR 4&CCI  and in the Living Lab ‘Climate Change Adaptation Innovation for Coral Reefs in Support of Community Based Conservation’ , both funded by RERIPA, with the help of his team of indigenous marine scientists, built mesh nursery tables to spell out BULA, which means LIFE in Fijian. Bula Reef is their shout-out to the world that time is running out for coral reefs and we must save them from climate change by reducing greenhouse gasses.
