Antananarivo, Madagascar – On January 28-29, 2025, the Malagasy capital will host the inaugural Regional Research and Innovation Forum, a landmark event dedicated to advancing waste-to-energy (WtE) solutions in the Indian Ocean region. Organised under the TWENex project, — which is part of the broader OACPS R&I Programme, funded by the European Union – which focuses on sustainable waste management and energy production—this forum aims to foster collaboration among researchers, policymakers, industry leaders and civil society.
A Collaborative Effort
The forum is a collaborative initiative between the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC) and the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), under the TWENex project. It seeks to create an inclusive environment for research and innovation, serving the waste-to-energy sector in the Indian Ocean.
