The Capacitating One Health in Eastern and Southern Africa (COHESA) project, in collaboration with the Quadripartite ((FAO, UN Environment Programme, World Health Organization and the World organization of Animal Health), just concluded a three-day joint training in Addis Ababa to strengthen capacity in the One Health workforce across Eastern and Southern Africa.
This training focused on equipping participants with key One Health resources, tools, and methodologies and has brought together academic and government stakeholders from national One Health platforms or their equivalents from 12 ESA countries: Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Participants have been introduced to the Quadripartite-developed Workforce Development Operational Tool (WFD OT), a database that offers a collection of global and regional training resources and tools relevant to One Health and zoonotic disease management. The WFT OT, can be used alongside the COHESA– developed Global One Health Search Tool (GOHST), a free online catalogue that provides access to over 100 e-learning courses.
