The largest regional scientific knowledge event provides a platform to discuss effective science, technology and innovation (STI) policies, aimed at achieving the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda in the context of the COVID-19.
Unique of its kind since its creation in 2016 and organised every two years by UNESCO and regional partners, alternating in distinct cities throughout the region (this year in Buenos Aires, Argentina), this event will bring together more than 20 high-level sessions, with authorities and leaders from the region and the world, 30 thematic conferences, virtual stands to visit and a wide range of parallel events.
The thematic sessions will focus on inclusive science, the ethics of artificial intelligence, open science, challenges and opportunities of the digital economy, in the framework of the pandemic generated by COVID-19. Providing policy-makers, private sector, social organizations and the scientific community with a key regional space for debates and exchanges, the Open Science Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean seeks to outline common positions and aspirations for a scientific, technological, and innovation agenda supporting sustainable development whilst simultaneously giving the region a strong voice in the global scope of the World Science Forum.
