The first Africa-Europe D4D Hub Multi-Stakeholder Forum aims to advance the partnership between African and European digital actors in order to build an inclusive digital economy and society.
Facilitated by the AU-EU Digital for Development (D4D) Hub project and co-hosted by the African Union and the European Union, the event will take place in the lead-up to the Africa-Europe Week, to be held on 14-18 February 2022, which will feature a rich series of hybrid and online events with civil society, youth and other key actors of Africa-Europe relations. The EU-Africa Business Forum and the EU-AU Summit will also take place during this week.
Digital cooperation will take a central role in the agenda of these events, in line with the Global Gateway, the new EU strategy to boost sustainable and trusted connections with the world, as well as the Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa.
Africa and Europe are important partners in the digital sector and share the ambition of leveraging digitalisation for inclusive and sustainable development. The forum’s objective is to make sure that all stakeholders (private sector, governments, academia, and civil society) contribute to joint AU-EU efforts to build an inclusive digital economy and society that leaves no one behind. It will also be an opportunity for the African Union Commission and the European Commission to give an update on the status of the implementation of digital initiatives and programmes.
